This was easily the most anticipated WRC bout ever, featuring the the two Edmonton rivals! Over 1100 enthusiastic derby fans rocked the Expo Centre! The bout did not disapoint either, as the E-ville Dead brought their intense, hard hitting style right from the first whistle. Oil City had the lead at half time, and made sure there would not be a repeat of what happened the last time the teams met at the CWRDA Westerns this June. They showcased some great strategies and disipline, and when the dust settled, emerged victorious with a 139-113 win. Congratulations to our defending Alberta Wild Rose Cup champions the OCDG All-Stars.
A huge thank you to our dedicated volunteers, Launchpad Solutions, Staples, Johnny Capote who streamed the live video feed so that 300 viewers could watch the game from afar. Thanks to guest head ref Cop A Phil & the other visiting officials, and our own Reffing Crew. |

The first round got started off with a bang at Prospera Place as the host league Peach Tarts took on perhaps their biggest challenge to date with the Oil City Derby Girls Allstars. Oil City set the tone for the first round with a resounding 248-9 win.
In the Second round, was probably THE most anticipated game of the weekend, it was the Battle of Edmonton, and the OCDG Allstars took on The E-Ville Dead for the first time ever. The officials did a good job keeping this potential powder keg under control. But at the end of the day E-Ville pulled out the win 123-119 as the Oil City Jammer went to the penalty box, allowing The Dead to pick up a final 5 points and call it off for the win. Look for Oil City to be coming for revenge September 17 as they play E-Ville for the Wild Rose Cup at home in Edmonton.
On Day 2 The Belladonnas and OCDG Allstars faced off for the 3rd place position. Despite the long history between these two leagues, their full A-Teams have never faced off. Yet another first in a tournament of firsts (8/10 games featured first time matchups). In a largely close game with a few big plays proving most of the difference Oil City eventually came out on top 186-126
